restoring system partition to larger partition

I am having just a really hard time trying to find out if there are
any settings changes that need to be made when wiping a disk,
reformatting, and then restoring the system partition to an enlarged
partition. The 3rd party Partition Magic some recommend for the job
has only non-server versions of Windows as system requirements. I
really do not want to buy software to do this anyway, if possible.
Can anyone tell me if there are any settings changes that need to be
made for the above scenario, such as possibly may relate to partition
size in the registry, etc.? Thanks for reading this.

Use backup/restore, or use xcopy/robocopy under
a Bart PE boot both for a backup/restore.

Thanks for the answer. I would tend to infer from this that there are
no setting or configuration changes to be made once the restored boot
and system files/folders suddenly find themselves on a new, larger
system partition. Am I correct in this, or do you know? Do you know
if this same thing would be true for all Windows versions? Thanks for
any further input.

This is correct for Win9x, NT, 2000 & XP.

How about Windows Server 2000 and 2003, and Windows Vista? Also, if
you know where any of this is documented, I would sure appreciate
knowing where. Thanks again.

It's probably true for the two server versions. Don't know for
Vista - you'll have to test it for yourself.
