Whenever we get new WinXP Pro computers, sometimes we forget to change the
Automatic Updates settings within Control Panel to 'Turn off Automatic
Updates.' Sometimes it's left at the default 'Automatic (recommended).' By
doing so, each computer still downloads updates from Microsoft's web site,
even though we're using WSUS through Group Policies.

Is there a way to automatically change this setting so that 'Automatic
Updates' is disabled, but WSUS still applies?

Thanks

RE: How to Use GPO to disable Automatic Updates

There is a GPO section dedicated to windows update. Its a computer policy in
the
computer configuration>administrative templates>windows components>windows
update section.

As for WSUS, you can configure those settings here as well, but if you
completely turn windows update off, its off. It needs to be enabled to access
a WSUS server.
