We have some good news: experts have confirmed that the novel coronavirus outbreak in the United States is finally starting to get better in the weeks to come in many regions. That's the first ray of sunshine we've seen in a very long time, but it's important that we don't get ahead of ourselves. Before you get too excited about the possibility that things are starting to improve, it's important to keep reminding yourself that it doesn't mean things will go back to normal anytime soon. They won't. Unless we all remain vigilant, there will be a huge second wave of infections that will be devastating to our healthcare system and to our morale.
Most states are already in the process of reopening their economies at this point, but some are being smarter about it than others. And sadly, not everyone is following the new guidelines even in states that are being smart about reopening. While we've seen dramatic decreases in infection rates in some previous hot spots like New York and New Jersey, other states have COVID-19 caseloads that are skyrocketing as they reopen.
There's one thing you need to keep reminding yourself... this won't last forever. It's difficult since staying in isolation is in such stark contrast with the way we normally live our lives, but you have to focus on the big picture. Staying in quarantine will save lives. It will also help dramatically slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, which is crucial since we all know that there's no vaccine coming until sometime next year at the soonest.
Now that you know you need to continue to stay home as much as possible for at least the next month or two, here are some key items that will help pass the time in self-quarantine.
