Win 2003 Std to Ent upgrade questions...

Can Win 2003 Std be upgraded in place to Win 2003 Enterprise (ie without
having to do a clean install) ? The 4GB memory limit in the Standard Edition
is causing problems as it runs our SQL 2005 Server so we assume we will have
to follow this upgrade path. TIA ...

You may better go to 64 Bit, to get outstanding performance with SQL 2005.
It's the same license fee, you move from 32 to 64 for free.

with 64 bit, you can stay in Standard mode, so you don't have to buy an
enterprise license, up to 32G of ram.

We did not think of that before the post, but since you brought it up we are
double-checking to make sure our hardware and version of SQL Server will
support it. So that was a good call on your part for bringing that to our
attention - much appreciated sir.

you can download for free SQL 2005 64 bit.
Even SQL CAL are both 32 & 64 bit.

Ask your retail vendor, or download evaluation and register it with your
current serial.

For hardware, it can be AMD 64 or intel EMT64
