We have a Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition and are getting ready
to install Terminal Server. This file/member server is in a domain
with SBS2000 as the DC (NOT SBS2003). We are reading discrepancy on
where to install the Licensing Server. This is a small (less than 20
PC are currently in the domains) environment. We will be adding
additional 10 PCs/Users that only need to access the Terminal Server.
We purchased (5) 2003 Server CALs and (10) TS-CALs (Per Device).

Where should the Licensing Server be installed?

Thanks!

DC or the terminal server, it won't really matter.

Re: Licensing Server Question-Where to Install

A 2003 Terminal Server *must* contact a 2003 TS Licensing Server. So
you don't have a choice, you must install the TS Licensing Server on
the 2003 box. And that's not real problem, it can co-exist with the
TS role without problems.

Note that TS licensing is *not* concurrent, so you will need a TS CAL
for every user or every client that connects to the TS.

Re: Licensing Server Question-Where to Install

Misread your post, you said SBS2000. The license server must be the
terminal server.
