I can not get my wms 2008 to stream over the internet. I have it running on 2003 without issue. I have installed it twice and the same problem. I have it bound to it's own IP address. I have all firewalls off. I even placed the server in the routers DMZ. Any advise would be appreciated. I did place a ftp server on it to make sure I could access the server remotely.

I did not see anything in there that really talked about the issue. I have read most of what I can find on MS site. As I said 2003 works with out issue. My guess is it is an issue with ports but I am not sure how. I have tried binding to different ports. I am using an unactivated version of 2008. I can activate it but I was trying to wait until I have a version that works correctly.

Sanman,

I was wondering what video card are you using in your windows server 2008.

I am in need of finding a card any help would be great.

I had an issue (DNS) with activation and it went away after I activated it.

I myself am working on streaming video using Windows 2008 so lets stay in touch.

I was wondering if activation was some way causing an issue. I did not really want to activate until I had an install I was happy with. But I did try it and I am getting a different message now.
"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help."
Again, all the videos, pictures and broadcast work fine on the local LAN from the windows 2008 server. Both LAN and WAN work fine when using 2003.

* As far as the video card I am running this in a virtual machine under VMware VI3. So no real video card. The server is a Dell 2900.

I greatly appreciate the feedback and suggestion. It really seems like some sort of networking issue. Perhaps caused by the way the 2008 version also loads IIS causing a conflict on port 80. I have setup 2 IPs on one NIC to sort out the ports. I think I will get rid of the second IP and just try to manage the ports on one IP. The other thought I am having is that 2008 just does not like NAT on my router.
