Xp group policy on server 2008 domain

After having joined a Windows XP client on my Server 2008 Domain, I noticed that the Group policies had not been applied to this profile. In my event viewer> Application Log I get an error saying "Source: Userenv - Evet ID: 1054 - Description: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occured) Group Policy processing aborted.

Now I noticed that my Vista clients are all working correctly, and my server 2008 Event Viewer does not show any errors.

How can I resolve this error so I can make use of the Group policies?

Is there anyone with a resolution to this issue?

I have also noticed that the xp workstations start up extremely slow.

Dear Anthony,
Did u verify that your Windows XP computer has a correct DNS address? Please issue ipconfig /all command from your Windows XP and then check the DNS Addess value from its result.

Is it that windows 2008 gpo were not designed to work with windows xp?
