Server can't find internet connection ...

We've been running Server 2008 for about six months, and I've been getting this persistently recurring problem with the server becoming unable to find the internet connection, even though all the users on the network can connect to the web OK, and access all the files. The antivirus (Trend) shows a disconnect and the AV lists go stale until eventually the desktops will show AV out of date warnings. I'll try to open a browser on the server and just get the old can't-find-the-page screen.

Rebooting solves it, but that brings up another issue I'm having: it takes the server 45 minutes or so to reboot! I'm just an "in house" guy and not trained administrator, but I have to wonder: is 45 or 50 minutes to reboot a server normal?

It's not so bad operationally, because the file sharing comes up in just 2 or 3 minutes, but the server grinds on for another 40 minutes before I can run any admin programs.

This does not seem right to me. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

You definitely have a problem with reboot times that long. It could be a driver issue, network configuration issue or any number of other problems.

Can you post your server specs?

You definitly have a problem with the startup time. But i don't think it's related to your internet issue.
Are you running DHCP and DNS in the server?
Do you have Static or Dynamic IP and DNS in clients? Please post the Client and server Ip settings if you can.
when you have no internet in the server, Does your client's got internet? If client's also falls down . that means a DNS issue. Check your DNS settings in the server. If it happens every 2 -3 days. That means you have a DNs lease problem. You can extend the Dns lease.
Please let me know . Thanks
