DVD/CD driver problems during install

Hallo
I have spend the last 2 days on google and calling around to friends trying to find a way to solve this problem. I'm trying to install Windows server 2008 R2 on my desktop.

What happens:
I boot up my system, booting from CD Windows loads files.
But as it goes in to the installing "menu", the start of the installation. It comes up with an error saying it needs drivers for the dvd/cd drive.

You guys have surely seen this error around before, but all the information i find about is, on WMware machines. Which don't really apply to my problem.

My desktop is normally not a problem when it comes to testing out things, but I'll post my specs.
XFX nForce 780i
Q9550 2,8Ghz running at ~3,8Ghz
8GB OCZ SLI-ready memory 800 MHz
XFX GeForce 260GTX
Main disk Samsung F1 spinpoint
Standard Samsung dvd/cd drive

If anyone have found a way around this problem i would very much like to hear it.

Have you tried reburning the iso files to disk?

It could be the result of a bad burn. There is one other thing could be wrong. Is this a scsi or sata dvd drive? If it is you'll have to load the drivers before that part of the install.

Its a sata drive. I'll try looking for a driver.

Okay i tried downloading the driver for my dvd/cd drive. This didn't help, the installation cannot find the driver i the folder.

I'm gonna try a IDE-drive instead tomorrow.

stupid microsoft messages!
yes it says "cd/dvd device needs driver", but its complaining about sata drivers and/or pci-ide controller drivers.

w8 loads up a basic image file, reboots and tries to load up a bigger (wim) image file. but the original only has a few basic drivers on it.
so no matter what hardware you have, its a good idea to put all the sata/raid/ahci AND and pci ide drivers onto a pendrive (or disk) so you can add them in when it asks. (at the point that used to be F6).

I had to install Win7 onto one machine, and then did a 'fresh' install of 2008 from Win 7 desktop - just so 2008 would use its own (microsoft) ide drivers.

On another machine: i set up BIOS to RAID (the default was IDE. Note: RAID includes or is better than ACHI.)
Then i installed Win 7. Updated all drivers. In DeviceManager looked up the driver details. Copied the files to a pendrive.
(for all SCSI RAID devices, and pci-ide controller devices).
Then i rebooted, started from W8 dvd, and installed ok using pendrive drivers.
Oh, I had to use Vista drivers for the LAN - w8 didnt like the w7 drivers for that.

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE ! win2008 does NOT need special expensive hardware. they said the same crap for vista !!
