Hello,

I have windows 2008 enterprise server running terminal server. I have a user who is logging in with default user rights. The user has a .zip file on the desktop. It opens in notepad, not the default .zip compressed folder like it normally does. It appears the .zip file association for this user only has been changed. I believe it is because he right clicked the file, and chose open with and selected word pad for some unknown reason.

I searched the net and could only find information about .zip associations for Vista, Me and XP but nothing for 2008 server. This is a production server so all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Chad

Right click the file and select open with. You'll them be able to browse to the zip exe and when you select always use this to open this file it will fix the association.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find zip exe like you say. it's not option in the list. See attached screen shot. I searched for "zip" and "zip.exe" and could not find this on the server. Other user accounts including the Administrator account can still open compressed folders like normal, but this user cannot. Any other ideas?

Couple days ago I was in the Internet and noticed there the next software - repair damaged zip,as things turned out the tool was quite good and restored my old corrupted zip files for a minute and without payment as far as I remember. I was greatly surprised, because of the program showed me one of its oportunities such as: opened Zip archives, analyzed it for errors and looked through the list of files.
