Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read this. Ok we have a Dell R710 server w/ one of those gigabit quad network cards. Well I setup this 2008 server standard sp2 to act as a basic file sharing AD server w/ DHCP/DNS on a Time Warner 3mb down 1.5 up connection and everything was flawless and worked perfectly. Then corporate decided "Oh hey lets switch ISPs" for some ungodly known reason. Well we switched to Deltacom (who was smoking crack on this decision?) and ever since the switch we have had what feels like internet similar to a satellite connection. They have came out to replace their equipment twice admitting they saw the equipment had faults, yet the internet connection seems exactly just as craptastic as the beginning. We have a 4.5 u/d cap. The client computers can get 4u/d just fine. The 2008 server (and another 2003 sever we have) both get 4 down but get 2.5mb up (not sure why? Anyone know?). Also I noticed from any computer/server in the network when you try to ping a new address the dns server has not seen, it takes an absurd amount of time to get the ip address. We tried various different dns servers deltacom has to offer but it feels like there is no change in the quality of our internet. Some of the users are still complaining that they have to click on links several times to get to pages they need to go to.
Deltacom is pointing the finger at our equipment and I'm still pointing the finger at theirs. Why would our equipment work perfectly fine on Time Warner, then they come along and it instantly has issues...
What ideas do you guys have for troubleshooting/solving this issue? Thanks. :-\
