Win 2008 Server Sp2 Crashes During Ad Ds Addition

Windows Server 2008 SP2; logged in as Administrator.

I'm following these instructions on adding AD DS (starting at the middle of the page). I choose to set up a Windows 2008 Server controller.

I get to the step where I enter password for the DSRM, the I get a window that says "Windows 2008 encountered a problem and will reboot in XXX seconds." Any clues?

That is, after I enter the password for DSRM, and click Next, I get the crash message.

Windows Server 2008 includes a variation of installation called Server Core. Server Core is a significantly scaled back installation where no Windows Explorer shell is installed. All configuration and maintenance is done entirely through command line interface windows, or by connecting to the machine remotely using Microsoft Management Console.
