The Leap From Shared To Dedicated Web Server

Running websites for a few years now, I've always relied on the benefits of shared hosting, but eventually one of my apps just got to big so I made the leap to my own (rented) Windows Server 2008 from which to run my site. It's a new world, but so far so good.

I'm more of a programmer than a sysadmin/techie so I have a lot to learn. Hopefully this site will be useful to me and perhaps my own experiences may be useful to others.
 
I am planning on doing the same thing and am a programmer not a sys admin either. You posted in July and it is now October. Was it worth the leap?
