I have Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation running on my laptop (dual core 64 bit AMD).
I have three similar registry entries HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\microsoft\Windows\Run
value = SilNotify.exe_1001 data = SilNotify.exe -s 12780 -t 1001 -m 2
value = SilNotify.exe_1006 data = SilNotify.exe -s 0 -t 1006 -m 70
value = SilNotify.exe_1006 data = SilNotify.exe -s 12780 -t 1007 -m 50
Windows Server 2008 Foundation, once having been joined to a domain, spits the dummy and pops up THREE messages if it is disconnected from the domain. It does it on startup and then regularly thereafter. If it can't talk to the domain controller within 9 days, it REALLY has a hissy fit and shuts down. I assume that Silnotify is what drives this.
My question is whether I can safely remove these registry entries and if so, will that get rid of the pop-ups? Also, I would not recommend anyone installing this on a laptop unless you can get rid of the pop-ups; they are a bit more than annoying.
