I have a Dell T310 server that came with Windows 2008 R2 - 64 bit OS loaded. The primary application that is to be run on this machine is not currently supported under 2008 R2 64 Bit. Because of this mistake I must downgrade to a 32 bit Windows Server OS. I would like to roll it back to Windows 2008 Server SP2. I currently do not have the media set from Microsoft, I have ordered it but it has not arrived yet. I was trying to use Dell's Open Manage to relaod the OS. I have been successful with downgrading to Windows 20003 (I have an OS media kit that Dell provided, they did not provide a Win 2008 Server SP2 set). I have tried repeatively to load Windows 2008 SP2 32 bit and cannot get it to load. I have been using a DVD that was created from an ISO downloaded from the MS web site. It will appear to be working correctly at first, I load the 2008 SP2 media and reboot, the system comes up and appears to be ready to install, after setting timezone, etc, the installation begins but stops with an error that states it cannot find an autorun.dll file or the file is corrupt. No such file exists on the DVD that was created from the ISO file. I have seen quite a few forums that mention redownloading/reburning the ISO to DVD. I have tried multiple copies from multiple DVD burners but have not been able to get it to work. Forums also frequently mention newer DVD readers that may be the cause. I think that both suggestions (redownload & reburn, and use another DVD ROM) are not correct. Any suggestions?
I expect a copy of Windows 2008 Server SP2 to arrive by tomorrow or the next day and am banking on that media kit installing with no problems.
