Hi there. I am really upset and frustrated big time, because I entered this password before which looked like this: AdMiNpW!. That was exactly what it looked like. But I was able to log into my server before, with no problem. And then I was happy. But when I restarted my computer, it wouldn't log me in at all! But I really did type my password and it looked just like that. So I also tried to reset my password, but that didn't help either. That was just useless too. But why when I restarted my computer, it wouldn't log me in for again? I mean this is really making me upset and annoyed a lot! So what am I really doing wrong here with this? Can you give me some helpful hints on how to fix this awful situation that I am in right now? Because I would really appreciate that very much from you. And you know that. Right? But what I want to know is this. Why in the world do you have to make such complex passwords all the time that are lower-case, and upper-case. It mean this is too complicated for me, I must say. But what I really want to know is how to disable the password screen totally, so it saves me all that time trying to figure out on what my password is. Because it gets really annoying and I can't take it anymore. Agghh! Well anyway, please get back to me as soon as you can, because this is very important to me. Because I really want my password to work all the time, because this is getting me really annoyed a lot. So that's about all for now. And I would also really appreciate it if you can give some helpful passwords that actually do work, and log me in just fine, with no problems. Then I will be so much happier again! So don't forget about getting back to me when you get a chance. And I will be waiting for my response from you very soon! So thank you very much now.

Hi there,

First you should be sure that your keyboard layout is correct.
To do this you can make an easy test: on logon page you should be able to log in as "OTHER USER". If you can do this, on the USER NAME FIELD write your password so you can be sure that is typed correctly (with different keyboard layout, the exclamation mark is not in the same place for all the keyboards). Once you are SURE the password is correct (you can see your password written correctly), retry to logon to your server. If this fails, click again on OTHER USER and as username type ADMINISTRATOR and then your password.

Did you set up a domain? Because the LOCAL admin password and DOMAIN admin password are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!

Let me know if this help...

anyway, strong password are important to prevent / avoid / reduce the risk of password cracking / bruteforcing. Anyway, once you can login to your server I will tell you how to remove the password enforcement policy.

Hi again. No, I didn't set up a domain yet, and I do not know even how to at all. Because I am very new to using a server, which I can't wait to try out, because it is way faster then just XP, Vista and 7. So how do I do this again? I forgot what to enter for my password. So I type in "Other User" in my administrator password? Is that how I do it? But I do not want to make a password reset disk, because that really doesn't work for me at all. It is kind of useless now. Well anyway, so please let me know on how to do this, so that it really works with no problem. All righty then? So don't forget to get back to me as soon as possible. So thank you very much!

Excuse me, I don't understand you very well...

I try to explain once again:

1) turn on your server
2) you should see "press ctrl + alt + delete to logon" do it.
3) now you can have two scenarios:
3 a) you should see the administator account and UNDER you should see a button called "SWITCH USER", if so CLIK ON THIS BUTTON
3 B) you should see the administrator account and on the right the "OTHER USER" account, if so click on OTHER USER
4) Now you have two text boxes, the first one is for username. IN THAT FIELD if you type you can see what you're typing (in the password's field you cannot see what are you typing). So, WRITE YOUR PASSWORD (AdMiNpW!) IN THAT TEXTBOX, by doing this, you are able to see IF THE PASSWORD IS WRITTEN CORRECTLY. Because your password has an EXCLAMATION MARK, there's the possibility that the keyboard layout is wrong so when you type "!" windows writes "\" (it's just an example), if this happen, tell me so I can help you!

I'm having a similar issue. I have a password which meets all the criteria - at least one Uppercase, at least 7 characters, at least one number... I've had this password since June and all has been fine. I used it this morning and it worked. Then the machine locked up and since then my password will not work. It tells me my password is incorrect. I've rebooted the machine to no avail. Also, when I try to reset the password, it tells me "This feature requires removable media, such as a floppy disk or USB flash drive." My IT department tried using a USB flash drive and that didn't work either. Any suggestions??

Hi,

is your keyboard's layout correct? Check it by typing your password in the username's field to verify the correctness. You can use the "On screen keyboard" to type the password so you can be sure it is correct.

if it is a domain computer, be sure your username is something like this: mydomain\myusername

The removable device, is used for password reset, but it must be configured BEFORE ;)
