I think the OP indulged in "multiposting", not "crossposting".
There is nothing wrong with "crossposting" if done in
moderation: It allows the post to be read by correspondents
in several newsgroups, and the answers are visible in all
newsgroups too. "Multiposts", on the other hand, appear
in each group separately and so do the replies. They
cause duplication of effort and are therefore bad news.
