I have a Windows Server 2008 Standard with a Raid1 config. When it boots it says that the raid is online and functional. It then gives you the choice of starting normally, last known func ( doesnt have one)
security login etc etc. When i choose Normall it goes black and the harddrives are going wild. Nothing happens. When i choose Secure login it stops at in the middle of the driver loading.
It worked one time after I did a chkdsk. I loged in and checked the logs. There were nothing of value there. It had a lots of failed windows update, so I ran all the updates again. Reboot the server and the same problem is their again.

Have anyone seen this before or heard of it?

Please help me

Using the server's cd - rom, boot from it and rebuild the MBR (fixmbr).

If you start in safe mode, does it work?

Non of the safe mode works. It stops at a the loading of drivers.
Havent use the rebuild MBR but the system started one time. If their were something wrong with MBR it shouldnt start at all?
I try to resync the mirror between the disks and see if it works.

Yes, your're right regarding MBT (my mistake).

It sounds like a corrupted driver...

Yes i think so to. Can it be detected some how and removed without enetering the system.
Have run windows repair and chkdsk and it finds errors but it solves nothing.
Can the driver be removed manualy? for exemple by a live cd

Well, you could manually remove the driver... but things may go from bad to worse...

Download any LiveCD (ubuntu, debian, what you want), and you should see the C:\ drive and yours partitions. From there you could remove the driver (but you must know the name).

Best thing should be backup the data (from live cd you can make a copy and paste) and then reinstall everything because just remove a file doesn't mean you resolve the problem.

If the server starts again, do you know any good find/remove corrupt drivers software or does windows have one of their own?

I got the server started. In the system log i see that the driver i8042prt did not load. Can this be the reason or is to small?

It could be!

What I suggest you is to DOWNLOAD the latest version of the needed driver and then reinstall it completly.

Remove the driver makes no sense... Maybe just a reinstall (with an updated driver) can fix this issue.
