All clients with windows xp join to dc but in the windows 7 say the following error "an attempt to resolve the dns name of a dc in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS name in the target domain"

Check your DNS's settings (client side), it sounds like Windows can't contact the DNS to resolve the name...

Let me know

I set the DNS ip "client", still cant resolve the name. Running NSLOOKUP is ok, pinging the dns ip is ok.

Ok, just to be sure this is not a problem regarding the dns resolution...

Open this file (on your win 7 client):

C:\Windows\System32\driver\etc\hosts (open with notepad).

This file should contains only rows with explanations on how to edit that file, at the end you should see this line:

127.0.0.1 localhost

After that line type:

IP_ADDRESS_OF_YOUR_DNS DNS's NAME

Save and retry.

A big thank to you... i finally got the computer to join the domain, following your instructions and it work.. thanks again...
