Duplicate Name Exists On Network - Workaround Needed

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for a workaround to have multiple computer names on the same domain at the same time?

This is needed from the complexity of our image build process. They are built up on the same development domain, but once they are moved to a seperate production environment, which isn't in the same lab, there would only be once instance and no issues would be incountered. The ideal situation would be for us to load a baseline image named APPSERVER (repeat process 5 times daily), then apply dynamic content that is done a case-by-case basis (and always changing), then re-image it and get it ready to be sent to our production facility.

Any dns/network/other ideas would be appreciated!

Maybe I'm not understanding your problem... but you CANNOT have 2 identical names on the same domain. You can set the same name but you CANNOT plug in the network cable.

The only solution I can see is to create another domain and put yours servers there. Actually, if you want to have five servers called "appserver" you have to create 5 domains.
