Ok hi, so i just installed windows server 2008 R2, its on a seperate partition to my XP installation. The problem is, when server 3008 boots, its grey and everything is classic looking, like old style start menu, and everything is old style grey like some windows services havnt loaded or something? The XP and server installations are on seperate hard drives.

Do i need Windows 7 installes and install server 2008 over it, or is windows server 2008 R2 completely stand alone?

There are also more issues relating to hardware, one or two wireless lan card wont enable.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

If you installed server on a separate partition, it's like another computer, so it doesn't depend on XP.

Now, the only thing that can make your server looking like the old 2003, could be a compatibility issue. Maybe you need to update the GPU drivers or something like that.

Regarding wireless card, you must find at least VISTA drivers.

Let me know.

I will format completely tonight including XP and have only the one HDD and do a fresh install. Its just odd its like the correct services arent running? It lools like windows 95 style. Not windows 7 style.

How would drivers effect this? And what drivers would i need to update? I hace a ASUS K8V-MX board.

Thanks
