I set up a new server with DNS, DHCP and Active Directory. First question is, is there a problem putting all 3 of these roles on the same server? The server is a Win 2008 R2 server.
I am having problems adding all of my workstations to the domain. Oddly enough I have only been able to add my workstation to the domain but no others. I have no idea why this is; I've checked the settings on my workstation and they are identical to the other workstations that will not connect to the domain.
I am running into a wall as far as the next steps to take to find my problem. I am also wondering if this could be a result of reverse or forward look ups.
I am attaching a screenshot of the error I get when I try and add a workstation to the domain. I am also including the command prompt info from NSLOOKUP and from the servers ipconfig /all.

NSLOOKUP info:
> nameservers
Server: server1.shelter.bhs
Address: 10.1.10.121
*** server1.shelter.bhs can't find nameservers: Non-existent domain
> nslookup
Server: server1.shelter.bhs
Address: 10.1.10.121
*** server1.shelter.bhs can't find nslookup: Non-existent domain
> set querytype=soa
> shelter.bhs
Server: server1.shelter.bhs
Address: 10.1.10.121
shelter.bhs
primary name server = server1.server1
responsible mail addr = hostmaster.shelter.bhs
serial = 69
refresh = 900 (15 mins)
retry = 600 (10 mins)
expire = 86400 (1 day)
default TTL = 3600 (1 hour)
**seems odd to me that the primary name server says "server1.server1" is this normal?
