Hi

If you were using Server 2008 R2 as a workstation with Avast and Comodo firewall and a basic network(computers connect to router and share files/connect to internet), what services would you turn off?

Trying to clean up the computer and make it quick as possible.

Cheers.

I use Comodo firewall and have a basic network(computers connect to router and share files/connect to internet).

Should I turn off these services?

IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules
Distributed Link Tracking Client
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper
IPsec Policy Agent manuel started
Base Filtering Engine
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Windows Firewall

IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules > Set to manual.
Distributed Link Tracking Client > mmmm you could disable this service, it maintains links up to date. If you move one file on another location over your network, it will update the path.
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper > Disable
IPsec Policy Agent manuel started > Set to manual
Base Filtering Engine > DO NOT DISABLE
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) > Disable
Windows Firewall > Disable

Hi
I left Distributed Link Tracking Client on and turned off the others(not base filtering).
IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules automatically turns it status to automatic after restart.
So I can't set it on manuel.
Should these be set to manuel?
Does server 2008 R2 schedule stuff by it self?
If I turn off Print Spooler, will printing still work(will it turn it self on if its on manuel?)?
Task Scheduler
Print spooler

Maybe on the server side, IPSec is running and all the related services cannot be disabled...

Regarding print and tasks:
From what I can remember no, they must be started in order to work. If you stop Print Spooler you can't even see your printers!
