Hello all. as the title say I have problems with my network.

1: network card setup win2008
2: network card setup in virtual pc (CentOS/cPanel)
3: network card setup on work computer (Vista home edition)

Okay. on my win2008 server I have two network cards but only one goes to internet and thats fine. the only thing installed on windows server 2008 is File Services and web server (ISS) and MS virtual pc with centOS and cPanel installed. You can see my setup on the differents thing down below. is this a valid setup ? is it ok ? I can reach my cpanel from the wireless card on my laptop but not from the local card.

I don`t want any shared internet connection since I have internet on the laptop from the wireless card. both computers is set as Workgroup.

this is the setup I have done so far. in winserver 2008

network card 1 (internet) (static) working fine.
ip : 10.0.0.93
mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 10.0.0.138 (My router)
dns 1: 130.67.15.198
dns 2: 193.213.112.4

Network card 2 (local) (static) not working so fine
ip: 10.0.0.94
mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.0.0.93
dns 1: left emty
dns 2: left emty
Everything running fine on the internet side from winserver 2008.

My seccond computer is a laptop with vindows vista home edition. It also have two cards.
this is the setup on that computer.

network card 1 (wireless card) (internet)working fine
here is all the field left emty and it recive the adresses in auto. Working fine.

Network card 2 : this is also left emty, recive adresses in auto. Not working fine.

What I want to do is use the vista computer to connect to my server 2008 local so I can get files from it without disable the wireless card. I also want to connect to my virtual centos/cPanel local.

In the virtual pc (centos)
this is the setup.

network eth0 (internet) working fine.
ip: 10.0.0.96
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 10.0.0.138

network eth1 (local) not working
ip: 10.0.0.97
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 10.0.0.138

DNS configuration:
hostname : win2008server.cpanel.com (this is my server name.
primary dns: 130.67.15.198
secondary dns: 193.213.112.4
Tertiary dns: left emty
Search: dyndns-server.com (this is the adress of my dyndns domain from dyndns, org

The dns adresses is from my isp and is in the router.

I hope you can help me a little here
thank you

I'm not really sure I'm understanding your scenario...

You have a phisical pc with windows server 2008 and 2 VMs.
Then you have a notebook with 2 NICs.

You want to connect your notebook to the first PC and with the VMs in there, right?

If so, you first need to select one of the two NICs on your notebook, usually you are connected via Wireless or Cable, not both at the same time. Then, if your IP is on the same network as the server is, you just type the IP and you can reach it (if firewall is set up properly). If the IP is not on the same network, you need a router.

OK I will try to explain the best I can.

this is my server : Windows server 2008 with one VM installed. on that VM I have installed CentOS.
Windows server 2008 = 2 network cards, both cables.
VM = two build in network cards.

Yes that is right. I want to use my laptop as a work station.
I have a router from my isp,

After your reading I do understand what`s wrong. and I have to laugh of my selfe hehe.

this is what I was doing.

Router -> server 2008. and then I took a cable from server 2008 -> laptop. I think this is wrong.

This is the right way ?

Router -> server 2008
Router -> laptop. and then disable the wireless card.

I am trying to transfer a 650Mb file from the lap top to the server 2008 and that takes 10 hours so something i wrong here,
and that is when I`m using the wireless card, it`s to sloooow! I will try a cable from the router to the laptop now and see if that would help.
