I have to install restaurant pos management software on the server which is running server 2008 r2, this program and its database needs tobe accessed simultaneously by 2 stations and an ipod for table orders. Where do i install this software on the server, do i use the newly named remote desktop services.

btw active directory is set, domain has been setup, just need to add the stations to the server and install this program on the server to be accessed by the above computers. The program supports multi computer input

In which way must this program accessed? I mean, via a client program which contacts the server via network? If so, are the clients / server on the same network (WLAN, LAN)?

If yes, you can simply install the program on windows server, no matter if active directory exists. The your client (if a client program exist, or a webpage is used, I don't know), can access the program.

You just need to open the right port on your firewall to permit comunications.
