1.44 floppy drive format

hi i have windows 2000 pro 5.00.2195 service pack 4 and i can not format
1.44 floppy
windows say i dos not know the media
i have look all over and can not find how to get it to work
the kids need it for there homework
i have bran new floppy the are pre formated

Sounds like the disk drive is probably bad.

hi and thank you
i have try this
it seems windows 2000 pro do's not have format32 install
my hd is formated in ntsd format
so windows did not load format32.exe
i can format the floppy at 720kb
but not at 1.44 as it shuld
any help with
windows want $99. us by e-mail
or $386 by phone
i have paid enufe for windows 2000

fat12 is the only option you have for 1.44 mB floppy disk. These may also

Windows should automatically detect the floppy size and format the disk as
FAT 12. From your description it seems that a 1.44 MB disk is detected as
720 KB. That would most likely be a fault in the floppy drive and not
Windows. 1.44 MB disks have two square holes at the top of the disk and 720
KB disks have one hole. If the drive does not see the second hole in the
1.44 MB disk it will detect it as 720 KB. Can you try another disk drive?
