our domain controller is running Windows 2003 server R2 enterprise edition
(x64). I've installed service pack 2 for it.
I tried to harden the server using Security Configuration Wizard. However,
all the exceptions defined in Windows Firewall are gone after running SCW.
Although I specified server roles such as DNS server, domain controller in
SCW, new machines trying to join the domain failed to communicate with the
domain controller. So I had to again define those exceptions in Windows
Firewall manually.
So my questions are:
Does SCW always flush out all the exception settings in Windows Firewall?
Why did running SCW not help opening ports in my case?
thx
