I keep getting this error, we blocked that IP at our firewall but the error
persists:
The DNS server encountered an invalid domain name in a packet from
220.73.220.4. The packet is rejected.

Any ideas?

There could be several reasons for this. See the comments here:

Re: DNS error

When you say that you blocked the IP in the firewall do you mean that you
are blocking incoming connections from that IP? That won't help because most
probably it is your server that is initiating the connection and there may
be a valid reason to connect to this IP. Btw, this host is a DNS server and
the IP seems to be located in Korea. Is there a specific time when this
message is showing up? Maybe you can use a sniffer (like Ethereal) and see
what kind of DNS request is sent. If indeed the response is invalid (for
reasons described in the link to www.eventid.net) then you may contact the
admin for that domain as you cannot control what response your DNS server is
receiving.
