Does anyone know of any good .NET Web Hosting?

Im not 100% sure, but I know Crystal Tech used to be made for developers, including the ability to send your VB6 code which they would compile and put into COM+ for you! They offer a .NET control center for "near system adminstrator" access to your website, but I dont know if they allow hosting .NET applications; youd have to check their site for more details.

They are very nice as far as other features (SQL Server, front page server extensions, etc).

Did you discover if they host .NET pages?

Theres also search engine just for finding hosts. I think its webhostdir.com
if anyone wants to do a bigger search...

And yes, CrystalTech does host .NET.

Im sure they sell your name/address to everyone on the planet. (and maybe other planets as well )

Brinkster does .NET hosting as standard (not sure about in their free account though).

Whether or not Id recommend them depends on what the site is for, really.

I dont have anything mission-critical, but a solid up-time and
speed are needed. (Whether its for myself or a client)

Until I host the site myself, I dont mind paying $30 US/month.
After all, Ive been paying for four years, so whats another few
months.

My company has been using it for years with NO problems. We even have them hosting our email though we could just as easily host it ourselves. Again, no problems in years...

And no, my company isnt Crystal Tech

I personally prefer Brinksters web hosting solution. The free account also includes the use of ASP.NET in your web application.

Brinkster is great for an amateur website.

Yeah, I know, I used to use it myself. But for a professional website,
or even one where youre going to be getting a lot of traffic, Brinkster
isnt very good. Not to mention the lack of free FTP. :-\

The pay one is not too bad though.

I didnt mention this before, but my company doesnt host any applications or such on Crystal Tech (mentioned above) so I cant speak for volume-performance. Im not saying theyre bad, I just have no experience with them for that. All of my companys websites are hosted by the client or locally (for Dev and QA servers that dont need internet access - just intranets).

If youre looking for a host for large web apps I couldnt suggest anything. My experience has been that a client that wants good performance in a web app is usually going to host the servers themselves or find a dedicated solution (some clients use one in Phoenix, AZ that hosts the servers with dedicated optical lines) rather than an out-of-the-box web hosting company.
