Codename Longhorn

Ive just read an artical:

about microsofts new operating system due 2004/2005. By the looks of things, changes is going to be massive. (No more files, etc)
Any thoughts on how it might affect .Net as it stands now? How will it effect our current way of doing things?

My thought is, will it really come to reality as the operating system of choice, or will it fall into the same demise as IBMs PS2? As you may remember, IBM designed and bulit a closed architecture personal computer. The market found it not to their liking and IBM almost went broke from its failure. I see Microsoft is trying the same thing with "Longhorn" with probably the same results as IBM. Most companies I know are using Windows 2000, not XP because of XPs licencing. I feel the same will happen with "Longhorn". Billy boy sometimes forgets that the market place is a bit bigger than he is, and the market place really regulates what direction products take.

Of course, this is only my opinion.
