Changing Email address

hey, i want to change my email address becoz my current email address doesnot exists anymore..

if i change my email address (example, my current is current@xxx.com and i want it change to new@xxx.com) now will it send a confirmation to current@xxx.com or will it send a confirmation to new@xxx.com????

just want to be sure coz if it sents a confirmation @ current@xxx.com, i wont recieve that mail for the rest of my life!
