Zeros in front of a number in Access field

Any one know a way to format the MS Access field to have zeros in front of a number, lets say 1? I want to have a format like 00001 00002 00003 in the field number for ID. Whenever I put a zero in front of number, the zero disappeared. I want to put zeros in front of a number so when I truncate the texts from the ID number in my VB .NET application, its easier for me to do it.

No, the only way to hold leading zeros in a field is to set the data type to string (text).

Set the field property Format to "0000000" (without the quotes).
