Mr. Icon.. where art thou?

How do you give an applicatoin a custom icon? :p It was easy with VB6, but for the life of me I cant seem to figure it out with .NET. I added an icon to the start up form, but that doesnt change the .exe icon.

I noticed an .ico file in my solution explorer, which I assume is the icon for the .exe, unfortunately I cant figure out how to change it. :(

All I have done is pick the icon from the main forms properties. It then changes the icon on the top left corner of the form and the exe.

Weird. Thats what I did, and all it shows is an icon for the form. *scratches head* Ill take another look, maybe I goofed something up.
 
I just remembered.....I have had strange things happen with icons....This may be due to the custom icon being incorrect size, colour depth, but when I add icons into the imagelist, some of them wont add while some will.

All of the icons from windows adds in fine, but some of the ones I have made wont. I havent looked too much into it, but it might be the problem you are having with the exe.

Might pay to check a standard icon and make sure yours is same size/colour depth.

Im going to assume that Wyrd is trying to associate an icon with his exe also and not just only the form. In the solution explorer window in the upper right of the opened program, right click on your solution, open properities then build. Put your program icon in the application icon box. Icons that are 32 x 32 and 256 colors will work great on all MS platforms.

dont you also have to add the icon to the setup gumpf when deploying?

Under the projects properties , not the form you can find how to set the icon for the executable, the name of the property is Application Icon in the build option
