Bound Dropdown list that adds to lookup

I have a lookup table that is bound to the list portion of the dropdown list box.

IS there a way to allow the user to type a new item into the text area of the dropdown list, and have it be added to the lookup table - and thus the list portion - thus they can build the lookup list on the fly and use it right away?
