Hello,

I have a requirement to allow 4 conncurrent RDP sessions to an existing W2K3
server. Terminal Server is not running on the server. Currently, we are just
using the default RDP setup which allows 2 RDP connections. Is there a way
to increase the Remote Admin connections to 4?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

No, not without installing Terminal Server and purchasing
licenses. You can have two regular RDP sessions plus one
console RDP session when in Remote Administration mode.

Please note that the 2+1 connections are licensed for Remote
Administration purposes only.

Terminal Server is installed through Add/Remove Windows
Components. If you choose to install it keep in mind that
you will also need a TS Licensing server on your network as
well. Once TS Licensing is installed you need to activate it
and then install your purchased TS CALs.

Thanks.

Re: RDP connections for Remote Admin

Thanks for the quick reply.

I get a warning when I start to install TS that all the existing programs
will no longer work and they will need to be reinstalled.

Will I be able to keep the TS in Remote Administration mode so the programs
are not affected?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: RDP connections for Remote Admin

Hi Mike,

No. If you want four concurrent connections then you need
to switch. Many programs are unaffected by the mode
switch, however, some are.
