Certificate server Web enrollment problems

For some reason I cannot connect to our certificate server via the web
interface. Using http://servername/certsrv I get a "page cannot be
displayed error". Should I be able to connect this way at the certificate
server itself ? If I should be able, I can't. How can I determine if the
cert web server is actually running? It appears to be, at least it does not
show "stopped".

Is ther a troubleshooting routine I can follow somewhere ?

Thanks for any help.

RE: Certificate server Web enrollment problems

Have you checked that the Default Web Site in IIS is running and configured
to accept requests on port 80? If the Web Site is running check to see if the
connection requires SSL.

Even if the Certificate Server Service is not running you should still be
able to log onto the Web page so this is most likely an IIS or a Firewall
issue blocking port 80.

Re: Certificate server Web enrollment problems

Thanks Johan, I am trying everything I can think of. The certificate server
was installed using the default install. There is an ISA server in the
network but I have shut it down for testing. I have tried changing the port
of the certificate server (from 80 to 8066) but no help there. I did stop
and restart iis on each change.

Is there a security log somewhere I can access? There is a log in
c:\windows\system32\logfile\ for each day and it does show the attempted
accesses but no error descriptions, at least not that I can read.

All this started from trying to install Office Communicatins Server 2007 and
having certificate problems with the workstations. I really appreciate your
advice and willing to try anything to get this thing to work.

Re: Certificate server Web enrollment problems

Hi, Is ISA running on the Certificate Server ? if so that could be the
problem. Ensure you have created a firewall policy allowing traffic on port
80 to pass then create a connectivity verifier to test your rule.

Have you created
