Though this may be off topic (a little) let me ask: my Windows XP computer
does not have ANY .net framework versions on it. Can I simply install the
latest version (3) to be fully compatible, or do I need all three versions?
Thanks.

All three versions are seperate programs basically and not updates/upgrades.
Some programs may require V1, others V2 and some of the newer ones V3.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

If you ever need a version of MS .NET Framework for whatever reason, you'll
be prompted to download and install it.

Thanks for the words. You're right -- just leave it alone until/if needed.
