Is it possible to connect and open a .xls file with password protection? I have to use a single file to save information about pcs on my company and to do so i have to put this file in a completely shared folder. So i would like to connect to an xls file with password....because i dont want that other people can access this data.

You do realize an Excel password can be acquired within seconds from the *.xls file using one of many programs found on the Web? It is not secure in the least.
 
Sure but i have to protect some data from "accidental" reading.
I know that it is a small security but for my company users it is enough.
Does any system to connect to a protected xls file exist?

Im fairly certain the Workbooks.Open method of the Microsoft Excel Object Library includes an optional parameter for a password.
