What is a "stub" message box?

I am asked to display a "stub" message box - is it different than an ordinary message box?

Ive never heard that word befor and I get curious...

So, I found out that theres 2 meanings for this, the JAVAs and the Microsofts...

JAVAs: mean the thing on the client side that looks like the object.
MSs: means the oposit... for the client size MS called Proxy !
