Special characters

I have written a VB.NET program that reads from a .txt file to a string and puts the text on a label, but when the line contains the Swedish letters

Windows Forms, by default, have no problems displaying non-English characters. Either you have changed the labels font to one that doesnt support such characters, or your file handling scheme is flawed. You may want to post the code in question.
