UK Market Rate for C# Dot Net / SQL Server Developers?

Hi all

Currently planning a startup which will require development work in the new year. Currently working out the budget and am trying to get a handle on the likely market rate for a contract resource - skilled in c#, dot net, sqlserver and general web design.

Can anyone advise either (a) a good place to look (so I can assess for myself) or (b) give me an idea of going rate (North West of England)

Thanks for that, Merrion - exactly what I needed.

If there are good web sites to connect contractors with companies directly, i.e. avoiding the agency, Id appreciate any pointers.
 
Agencies seem to have a stranglehold on UK contracts unless you are looking at off-site/freelance type work. In that case there are a number of people on rentacode and similar sites.
