Dear Sir,

Thank you for regularly updating the OS for security and performance reasons.

However I notice that each time when the updates is installed, the PC would
need to be reboot. During this process the user need to reconnect to their
internet and get back to their URL all over again. Similar problem also
arises for installation of updates from other software producers.

Is it possible for MS Developers to add an Option to enable to enable the PC
to reconnect itself to the internet and navigate to the latest access URL
after rebooting ?

This could save a lot of time and effort of doing it manually. For
installation of new software, this option could only be executed after the
whole process is completed.

Also the current hibernate and standby option only allow the user to execute
ths function automatically after certain hours. Login and navigation still
need to be done manualy.

I would like to suggest for new Add On for Window XP to enable the user to
set the time to turn the PC on , auto logon to the internet and go to a
particular URL to play certain songs. The PC could be set to turn off for
certain hours. With this feature, the user do not need to do it manually if
he wish to suft the internet during certain hours of the day.

I hope my suggestion is insighful for future product improvement.

Many Thanks

Low

MSFT does not monitor this site. This site is for peer to peer help.

Re: Suggestion to MS: New Add On for Window XP -Auto Navigation and On

One at a time:
Not all updates require a reboot.
If you have a DSL you are always connected to the internet.
Your computer should be set up to connect automatically if you have a cable
modem or Dial-up when you click your browser or mail program.
Why would you want to reconnect to the site updating your computer? That is
the last URL you were at.
Turning on the computer at a certain time is done by the BIOS not the OS
(Windows).

This is a peer support newsgroup. We are all just Windows XP users
here, helping each other if and when we can. We are not Microsoft
employees (not even those of us with "Microsoft MVP" behind our names;
that's an honorary title for having provided consistently helpful
advice) except for an occasional employee who posts here unofficially
on his own time.

So if you want to address Microsoft, please do it directly. It has no
effect here.
