Monitoring connections

Some friends at work have recently discovered how to connect to any PC on our network (the IT department have given everyone admin rights so we can all connect to any C$ share or registry - dont ask!) and are having fun playing about. Id like to be able to monitor when someone tries to do this to my pc.

Id want to write a small utility that will monitor any connections to my PC (shared folders or registry) and display an alert when a connection has been established. Is this possible? What classes should I look at?
 
Anyone?

Ive managed to write some code that monitors the event log but I cant get the code that monitors the file system to work and I dont know how to monitor the registry.
