ok howbout now?....
???

ignoring that :-p, id say move into C++,
but since you wanted a book that deals a lot with HLSL:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/193184139X/ref=pd_sxp_elt_l1/102-8059593-6880153

[quote = www.amazon.com :p]
With a detailed explanation of vertex and pixel shader programming, coverage of the new Microsoft HLSL (High Level Shader Language), and greater concentration of the fixed function pipeline, the second edition of this popular reference guide will take you farther than you ever imagined!

i havent read the bok myself, but i think its good(if you know C++)

im probably ordering
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1556229135/qid%3D1081951392/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-4926106-9696829
and
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1556229682/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_3/002-4926106-9696829
online (my parents are thinking about getting it)

if i get it, ill let you know if i find it useful,
since you already read the book that you mentioned, id say check out the latter book i mentioned :D

edit: oh by the way rifter, thanks for editing your message out after ive quoted it :p lol

rifter, i ordered Introduction to 3D Game Programming with DirectX 9.0
it should be coming in in a week or so

ill let you kniow whether its In Depth and deals w/ HLSL,
however its in unmanaged C++ ...i dunno if thats what youre looking for becuase the book you mentioned above is a .net book...

hello? am i talking to myself here ? :)

in either case, i hope u get this message:
the book was great,
it goes into most of the DirectX functions..etc
it goes in depth as you wanted,
it provides severa; chapters on HLSL

my opinion: its a good book,
but its not an easy read - it needs to be read like a textbook,
