if youre in the US or Canada, you can get a free copy of VB.Net standard by watching videos and giving feedback. Nevermind you just might learn loads of new things by watching the videos.

My only gripe is that the videos seem to be hosted rather than .wmv or .avi/.mpg. You dont seem to be able to download them, so you have to take notes or expect to go back and download the movie again.

hmm, even better.

I already had vb.net standard, I was doing it for a second copy. When I went for the final verification I was given the choice of TWO products, not just vb.net standard 2003.

I chose:

A Developer Welcome Pack (containing a training CD and Application Architecture book)

It was an option if you already had vb.net standard and didnt want another copy.

True to word, its 100% (monitarily) free. It cost only your time to watch 5 5 minute videos, and rate them (maybe taking it up to 7 minutes a video, so 35 minutes total)

No shipping costs (though 4-6 weeks) were asked for.

LOL !

Thats really nice ! Did you see those little image ? They look like old TV series and one even seem to look like Indiana Jones :p LOL

Will have some fun this weekend!! Lolllll

microsoft can make the money other ways, the software is designed as a full version (enterprise) which rakes in money and then a cut down version is made, standard version is used alot by students

I just received mine!

If anyones interested I ordered mine a month ago and received it today.

It includes the following:
  • Visual Basic.net 2003 standard edition
  • a "Getting Started with Microsoft Visual Basic.Net Version 2003" tutorial. ( It is "adapted" from the full sized STEP BY STEP VB.net Manual and contains what seems to be the first 4 chapters of the book. Not much but hey...its free.)
  • MSDN Library For Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2003 (3 Disks)
  • A Prerequisites CD to install what your PC might need.
  • Windows 2000 SP4 CD.
  • Not worth mentioning but...the End User License Agreement.
Although if what The Pentium Guy says is true, it wont matter to those didnt get theirs in time. Sorry.
