Recently I am dealing with more and more software deals and I found out that I need to present my proposals and quotations in a very professional way as to get a better price for the software.

I am wondering whether you guys mind to share out some templates or ideas on how to write a good proposal as well as quotation.

Normally, I get paid after the whole project is done. But, I got to know that we could claim the money during development phases. How am I going to do this? I would very very appreaciate if you could share with me your experience.

You could use one of the templates that come with microsoft word or Quickbooks and invest in some professional quality paper with your corporate logo contained within the letterhead. If you dont have a logo, you should work towards getting one.

I definitely recommend using Quickbooks to create your invoices, it works great for smaller businesses and individuals. You should break your project down into a managable set of discrete units that feel comfortable giving solid time/cost estimates on. List each unit on the invoice and sum the total hours as well as the total cost at the bottom, Quickbooks can do all of this for you.

Also, you are going to get screwed over by waiting until a project is complete before paying. This gives the client way too much control over you and they feel more comfortable making unreasonable demands without having paid for anything.

Building a successful business is tricky, and the difference between failure and success often has more to deal with how you present yourself than what it is you are actually providing the client.
