alternative for frontpage server extensions?

hi all,

not sure if this fits this board.. but..

does anyone know of an alternative to frontpage server extensions? im thinking of a simple script file that any form on the site can post to, that will accept the data and output it to a text file or something like that. the advantages would be that you would only have to install this script once on the server and not have to configure each website to use it. and therefore, would not be limited to using frontpage as your editor and having to publish each change to the site

any help would be appreciated
