office core vs Interop

Hi all

I am new to office automation and has no previous knowledge about automation and vb . But has strong knowledge of C++/vc++6.

I want to convert some non unicode font strings in documents to unicode font. I am using office 2003 and vb.net for automation.

Can someone please help me what is the difference between importing
Imports Microsoft.Office.Core
and
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
