I dont know if you guys have come across this Blog yet, but I thought some of it was very interesting, as this guy runs the development division (!!!) at Microsoft. Anyway, in this post he comments on the future of .NET in the roadmap, and I thought he made some interesting points, and commented that part of the 2.0 framework has been coded in VB, and even some of the VS.NET 2005 IDE.

Yes, this blog entry is very interesting and very well done.

Im happy to see someone from the dev team present something like this. Hopefully it will help with the point that its not about the language anymore. Use what you are happy with, what you are comfortable with, and let the beauty of the managed code system allow your code and my code, written in two different langagues, work in harmony with each other

There are plenty of blogs from MS employees, but I thought this one was more interesting, as it was from upper management...

I did not realize this particular one was from an upper management level, but all the better to know that it is. Perhpas this is their way of taking a lead in helping to curb all the debates on the matter and lead the focus back to the point at hand.

As I look at it, they have provided a choice to appeal to a broader spectrum of developers. Just because I choose to go one way and someone else another, that in no way means anything bad about either of us. We each simply have exercised the freedom provided to us to choose what we want to use. We all should be thanking the providers for permitting us to choose what we want to use with the design built in so that the end result of our efforts can work side by side, even together, resulting in wider use of each of our products. :)

Really interessting blog... but it end in the eternal flame war "C# is better than VB.NET".

Please... dont start one here... we all know that both language have their pro and con and there are enough web site out there that talk about it...

But I like to see some Higher Managment Blog.... it help me figure out what is the road plan to the new environnment (my current one).

dont start one here

I agree. The world has enough programming language prejudice to go around.
As long as we all agree that VB.NET is the language of the future for .NET then there should be no arguing.

But...

Dark Basic Roxxors!! VB Suxxors!

umm, did I get my "web trash" syntax right?

And yes, Im joking :p

All in all... this was one of those really interesting blog. I was sure that it was all C++ made by some All-mighty C++ Pointer Guru. But... I hurt a wall at 200 miles per hour.

We must all admit. VS.NET is fast and it does a terrible good job. And like they say... I never suspected that they had VB form in that. They totally got me !!! :p lollll

My respect to those VB.NET and VB6 programmer kicked butt that Ive done since my beginning in computing. Sorry guys... :p (Im going too far there... :p lollll)

I would not categorize this as a personal blog but rather see it as yet another marketing channel.

I agree, but still overlooking that, its still a unique view from someone high up in the development chain.
