I am migrating an SBS 2000 server environment (created by a nut, but that is
another story...) to a W2K3 Server environment - We are ALSO changing the
DOMAIN - On the OLD DOMAIN the SBS 2000 Server (which WILL be removed) is
ALSO the TC Lic. Server..... There is an old Citrix Server on a W2K Server
which will remain in place....
Here is my issue - I need to move my 2000 TS CALS to a new licensing server
- as the old one will be removed
I Will be leaving the CITRIX server IN PLACE only modifying domain
membership etc. - It is a W2K server
Should I create a TS Lic. server on the CITRIX box and move the licenses
there AFTER I switch domains.... OR....
CAN I install TS Lic. Server on my new GC W2K3 server and just add in 2000
TS CALS
Obviously with 2000 TS CALs I can only access 2000 TS/CITRIX Servers....
Any suggestions or comments??? In the past I have replaced the works and
never encountered this particular issue (and of course MS changed it's TS
licensing schema again also...)
Yes, you can install TS Licensing server on your 2003 server
and add the 2000 TS CALs to it. The "catch" is that you will
need to contact the clearinghouse and have them reissue the
licenses.
HOW TO: Locate a Phone Number for the Microsoft Clearinghouse

This is one of those issues that you don't want to START unless you are 100%
- I even called MS before I posted here and received a vague answer... With
MS being 99% sure can be a fatal error... I was not sure if the 2000 CALs
would 'take' and issue properly on a 2003 TS Lic. Server........
After what seems like 100 MS Licensing seminars iI STILL check before I do
most things... All the seminars usually ensure is a free lunch - and even
THEY aren't as good as they used to be ;-)
Thanks again
